Upcoming Events in November

1) EWB Challenge Showcase
The EWB Challenge is an Australasian design program for first-year university students. It provides students with the opportunity to learn about design, sustainable development, team work and communication whilst contributing towards real international development projects.
On the 26th November the top student teams from universities in Victoria will be presenting their  design solutions for Pitchandikulam Forest organisation and the community of Devikulam in south-east India. Design challenges include water and electricity supply, clean cooking and housing construction.
Engineers, those interested in community development, and members of the general public are welcome to see how engineers of the future can incorporate innovation and sustainable community development into all of their work.
The Victoria regional champion team will be selected to represent the Victoria at the national AAEE conference in December.

2) The 2011 Australian Humanitarian Engineering Conference
30 November – 2 December @ Etihad Stadium, Melbourne

Engineers Australia and Engineers Without Borders are proud to bring you Imagineering: The Humanitarian Engineering Conference 2011. The three-day conference will be held at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne and will encapsulate many of the activities that have taken place during 2011 - the Year of Humanitarian Engineering (YoHE).


Over the three days of conference, delegates will be taken from the point of understanding the issues surrounding poverty, reconciliation and the role of engineers in attending to these issues to celebrating the current and past activities the engineering sector has undertaken in the areas of disaster, poverty alleviation and capacity building.

Delegates can expect a combination of high quality seminars, workshops and forums surrounding each streams theme, and all building towards the bigger picture of humanitarian engineering, and the humanitarian engineer.
